Vintage Shopping

One of my all-time favorite things to do is to shop vintage.  Any time I head to a new town I always check to see what sort of vintage/consignment/thrift stores that are available.  I have scored some amazing unique pieces -- like a bonnie cashin blue leather jacket for $7.00. However, I'm not always that lucky :)

Why do I like vintage so much?  For one - I like the fact that it is one of a kind.  I'm not going to see myself coming and going in every direction.  Two - the material and construction of many of the items is better then a lot of today's mass produced products.  Three-  why own a reinterpreted a-line dress when you can own the real thing?  Some people turn there nose up at what they call "used clothes."  I say more for me :)

One of my new fave finds is Moonshadow in Takoma Park.  It carries a wide range of clothing, shoes and jewellery as well as hand bags and scarves.  It also has a nice selection of the old paint by numbers kits -- which can be turned into lovely clocks.  www.moonshadowantiques.com
