The Debates

The silly season is upon us in this upcoming presidential election. The first presidential debate is under our belt and the only vice-presidential debate is over and done - with most of the pundits agreeing that Sarah Palin managed to not crash and burn.  However she seemed artificial and unable to answer a direct question.  No matter how many times she was pressed Palin returned to her well worn and well memorized talking points - even correcting Joe Biden on the catch phrase chanted at the republican national convention - Drill Baby Drill.

Saturday night alum Tina Fey may have found her raison d'etre in her portrayal of Sarah Palin. Fey could be her long lost twin - with the hair, the makeup, the glasses and of course the accent. She drops her ng's perfectly and can joe six pack and hockey mom with the best.  The silver lining of a McCain-Palin administration might be four years of Fey as Palin.

Here horsey, horsey, horsey

So I've gone back to my roots a bit and started riding again.  I found a lovely stable here and have started taking lessons once a week.  There is something about working in conjunction with a horse - taking those jumps that is just exhilarating!  It's a barn where the riders have to tack and untack the horses and I find the whole process - especially the grooming calming.  It's nice to get a chance to spend some time in the company of some very civilized companions.

Nikon D90

So I bit the bullet and plunged into the world of high-end digital slr cameras - specifically the brand-spanking new Nikon D90.  And I must say - I'm in love!  The beauty of this particular model is that it shoots - get ready for it - HD video. The editors I am working with are salivating over this camera.  The user manuel is not light reading and I know I have only scratched the surface as to what this baby can do.  Boy am I looking forward to putting it through its paces!
